RIO RANCHO, N.M. — Sandoval County Sheriff’s officials say a burned body found in northwest Rio Rancho is an adult woman, but her identity still isn’t known.
They say the body was burned beyond recognition when a passer-by found it Saturday afternoon.
Sheriff’s officials say the incident is being investigated as a suspicious death.
The Office of the Medical Investigator is working to identify the woman and determine when and how she died.
Deputies also are looking through reports of missing people.
