[4/4/2006 3] Citytunneln signs contract with El & Industrimontage Svenska AB

Today the Citytunnel project signed a contract with El & Industrimontage Svenska AB covering the installation of three systems for safety and monitoring of the Citytunnel. The contract is worth almost SEK 52 million.

Contract E306 covers systems for control and monitoring of safety-related equipment, the SCADA system (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), ITV system (Internal TV), and a fire-alarm installation for the Citytunnel.

The task to be carried out by El & Industrimontage is a total contract and includes design, assembly, and commissioning of a complete installation. Work starts immediately in order to be completed over five years up to the opening of the Citytunnel in 2011.

‘El & Industrimontage has submitted a well-planned tender and has wide experience of installation work in large infrastructure projects such as the Southern Link and Bothnia Line. The contractor will play a key role because the contract includes co-ordination of testing of technical systems supplied by other contractors, in addition to supplying its own technical systems’, says Patrik Magnusson, Project Leader for the Railway Sub-Project in the  Citytunnel project.

Citytunneln has previously signed agreements with the following contractors:

  • Malmö C Lower (NCC Construction Sverige AB)
  • Tunnels and rock cavern (MCG, Malmö Citytunnel Group HB)
  • Hyllie-Vintrie, ground and constructional work (NCC Construction Sverige AB)
  • Hyllie Station (NCC Construction Sverige AB).

The Citytunnel project in Malmö consists of 17 km of railway connecting Malmö Central Station with the Öresund Bridge, as well as linking up the Scania railway network and increasing rail traffic capacity for the future. Six km passes underneath central Malmö, and the other 11 km is surface railway.

Malmö Central Station is being extended with an underground section.  New stations are being built at Triangeln and Hyllie.

The first spit was dug on 8 March 2005. The Citytunnel is planned to be complete in 2011. The budget for the project is SEK 9.45 billion at 2001 values.
